The next Carnival will have the centerpiece of the world of the Vikings. This was decided by the 4140 citizens who participated in the poll organized by the area of Celebrations of the City of Arrecife.
As pointed out by the councillor responsible, Victor Sanginés, “the initiative has been successful with a participation level high enough to be a first experience, so from now on will use more often this popular reference tool.”
After learning the result, in the morning on Tuesday, Sanginés met with the usual murgas designers, queens and carnival groups, to inform them of fantasy and other matters related to the show of the Queen.
Moreover, Sanginés announced that taking part in Carnival 2012 will be one of the most senior masqueraders of the island, Juan Medina, popularly known as “Charlot” in Lanzarote.
Medina has for the last 25 years played this beloved silent film character Charlie Chaplin, and from one day chose that costume and, in view of the success, decided to walk forever in the Carnival.
