The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Canarian Government in favor of continuing joint strategies for tourism promotion

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, from the Government of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernandez de la Puente, held a meeting in Lanzarote with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Astrid Pérez, in order to continue advancing in the planning of strategies to promote tourism between the two institutions . The meeting was also attended by the director general for Planning and Tourism Promotion, Rita Hernandez, manager of Promotur, Maria Mendez, Managing Director of the Tourist Board of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández Manchado.

Travesía El Río 2011 - swim from Lanzarote to La Graciosa

The most popular swim across the Canary Islands takes place in the stretch of sea between the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, called "El Río", within the Marine Reserve largest area of Spain.

It has become a must for lovers of swimming in open water, many swimmers congregate in order to unite the two islands. The goal is located on the dock of La Graciosa. This is the only inhabited island of the archipelago Chinijo Islands, and the most northeastern of the Canary Islands.

This environmental heritage is a unique ecological area of great scientific interest for its volcanology and landscapes. Its biological richness in endemic species and marine dunes and golden beaches and primitive constructions of the streets make this an idyllic spot.

Arrecife Gran Hotel Fun Run - 15th October 2011

On 15th October 2011 there is a "Fun Run" of 6km, going from the Arrecife Gran Hotel to the turning point in the urbanization La Concha, passing back to Arrecife, to return to the finish line. Thes best bit is that the finish line is located on the top floor of Arrecife Gran Hotel and you have to run up the stairs to get there - no lifts allowed!

It is a must for lovers of sport that invites you to enjoy "La Marina" Arrecife.

The Fun Run is aimed at people of over 16 years old, however children will have a smaller run 2km and 1km without the hotel stairs.

ATC Strike in Germany is expected to cause many problems in Lanzarote today

The air traffic controllers' strike in Germany is expected to affect 70 flights to the Canary Islands and Lanzarote is in particular due to suffer.
