Arrecife – Carnival Program 2012
Thursday 16th February
18:00 Traditional Music Parade starting from the cuatro esquinas (four corners) down Calle Real to the square featuring La Parranda de Buches, Los Diabletes and Cabezudos.
Friday 17th February
18:00 Final of the XXII Murgas Competition in the Recinto Ferial with a performance from Lanzarote’s Got Talent.
Saturday 18th February
12:30 Street procession of Batucadas and Comparsas from the Islas Canarias park to the Puente de las Bolas Bridge.
21:30 Grand Artistic Gala and election of the Carnival Queen 2012 with a performance by Isis in the Recinto Ferial.
Sunday 19th February
21:30 XIII Drag Queen Election with a performance from Prohibida in the Recinto Ferial.
Monday 20th February
18:00 Grand Carnival Float Parade with street bands, street party and procession leaving from the football ground along the Vía Medular and finishing at the Recinto Ferial.
Tuesday 21st February
11:00 Children’s carnival in the Recinto Ferial with workshops, bouncy castles, animation and Archi the magician.
Wednesday 22nd February
18:00 Burial of the Sardine leaving from the Arrecife Ayuntamiento and finishing in the park opposite the Cabildo with the burning of the sardine and fireworks to mark the end of carnival.

Thursday 23rd February
18:00 Children’s Carnival at the Plaza del Varadero in the Old Harbour
20:00 Performance of the Murgas of Carnival songs by the groups Tabletuos, Simplones and Desahusiados in Plaza del Varadero in the Old Harbour
Friday 24th February
20:30 Carnival Show by carnival groups including Charanga “Los Gruñones”, Batucada “Chimbay”, “Guaracheros Show” and Comparsa “Sur Caliente” in Plaza del Varadero followed by an open air concert with Lanzarote Swing and DJ Carlos Chavaud.
Saturday 25th February
17:00 Carnival Parade along Avenida de Las Playas from Barcarola to Fariones Playa.
21:00 Open air concert with Travesía, Rika Banda and Lanzarote Swing in Plaza del Varadero
Sunday 26th February
12:00 Carnival Morning singing and dancing with Pepe Benavente, Rafael Flores “El Morocho”, Batucada, Comparsas and Drag Queen in Plaza del Varadero.
