Canary airports received 3,422,335 passengers during the month of June, which represents a decrease of 2.8% compared to June 2019. Of the total number of commercial passengers (3,393,697), 1,560,660 correspond to national traffic, 2.4% less, and 1,833,037 to international traffic, 3% less than the same month of 2019.

 

The airports in the Archipelago with the highest passenger traffic were those of Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur, with 926,433 (-5.4%) and 804,767 (-1.9%) respectively. They are followed by the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport, with 606,596 (+0.4%); Tenerife North-City of La Laguna with 486,152 (-5.2%); Fuerteventura, with 451,856 (-1.1%); La Palma, with 116,664 (-1.1%); El Hierro, 22,789 (+1.8%), and La Gomera, which with 7,078 passengers experiences the highest percentage growth, with 15.8% more compared to June 2019.

 

Regarding the number of operations, the Canarian airports registered 31,455 movements in June, 1.6% less than in the same month of 2019. Of the total commercial operations, 18,732 were national (-3.9%) and 11,284 international (+1.3%). As for freight traffic 2/2 Press release, 2,560 tons were transported, 11.8% less than in June 2019.

 

Accumulated January-June

 

In the first half of the year, the number of passengers registered at Canarian airports amounts to 19,895,858, 10.5% less than in the same period of 2019. Of the total number of commercial passengers (19,684,466), 7,936,061 correspond to domestic flights, -6.8%, and 11,748,405 to international flights, 13.2% less.

 

The number of operations registered during the first six months of the year was 191,317 (-6.2%) and merchandise traffic was 16,018 tons (-13%).

 

More than 24 million passengers in the Aena Airport network

 

In June, a total of 24,320,204 passengers passed through the airports of the Aena Network. The busiest airports this month were Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, with 4,538,501 passengers; Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, with 4,065,862; Palma de Mallorca, with 3,715,622 and Málaga-Costa del Sol, with 1,907,290 passengers.
