The City of Yaiza awarded last Friday in plenary six new licenses for the provision of public service taxis in the municipality attending the conclusion of the socioeconomic study written by the Institution that recommended moving from 61 to 67 vehicles. The mayor, Óscar Noda, recalled that the main criterion established for the awarding of the license was the order of seniority in the exercise of the profession accredited by the interested parties through documentation certified by the General Treasury of the Social Security.
If there is no appeal, Yaiza completes the file after complying with all the mandatory procedures in the matter, including the report of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The mayor apologized to the taxi drivers present in the plenary session for the time that the adjudicatory process demanded, wishing them success now that they start their journey as entrepreneurs. The Councilor for Transport, Roque Herrera, timely explained to the taxi drivers all the conclusions of the socioeconomic study on the sector to make this process a much more participatory process.
The municipality currently covers the service with 61 vehicles and 11 taxi stands located in tourist areas, except the one that operates in front of the Town Hall in the town of Yaiza.
