The new measures of the Phased Descaling Plan announced by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, on the afternoon of this Tuesday, involve some changes in the initial forecasts of the Canary Islands Government. For example, the fact that mobility between islands will not be possible until the end of June. Or what is the same, inland tourism will not be a reality until early July, at the earliest.
It is true that the de-escalation plan provides for the phased opening of hotel establishments and restaurants, but always within the same island, so, for practical purposes, until the end of June, beginning of July, there will be no tourism real because there will be no tourists no matter how many hotels are open. The only ones who can go to the hotels in Lanzarote will be the residents of the island itself.
Therefore, the forecasts of the Government of the Canary Islands and its Minister of Tourism, Yaiza Castilla, can not be put into practice until July, at the latest.
On the other hand, the president announced that it is studying to expand the Ertes of force majeure for the tourism sector and although he did not establish horizons, it is calculated that they could be extended until the end of June, at least.
