The Governing Council approved this week the extension of the credit destined to councils and city councils for tourism sustainability plans in destination in 150,000 euros. In this way, the financing of the regional Executive reaches 1,650,000 euros, thus equating the amount allocated by the Secretary of State for Tourism that, in its call for 2021, has chosen the Lanzarote program, the energy of the Volcano.
It should be remembered that the Ministry selected the Conejero project among the 42 proposals submitted by the Canary Islands Community for the Sustainable Tourism Plans in Destination, one.
For the development of the Plan in Lanzarote, in addition to the more than 1.6 million euros from the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands will contribute the same, while the Island Council itself will contribute the remaining amount until reaching the five million euros.
The Cabildo will have a term of execution of the Plan of three years from the start of the same and with this it will seek the revitalization of a fundamental area for the Island, which has suffered in a special way the consequences of the crisis derived from the pandemic.
