The Canary Islands continue for another week at alert level 1 for covid

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands today updated the health alert levels after the epidemiological report of the General Directorate of Public Health with consolidated data as of October 20, in which the downward trend in health indicators due to COVID- 19 on all islands that remain at alert level 1 in this week’s “traffic light” update.

According to the Public Health report, all the islands maintain a low or very low risk of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 and the use of health services due to coronavirus decreases, so that all the territories of the Autonomous Community are located in the same alert level (level 1), identified as “green traffic light”.

During the last week, both the cumulative incidence at 7 and 14 days in all the islands is at low or very low risk. Specifically, the 7-day accumulated incidence rate average decreases in the Archipelago as a whole by 7.7, with respect to the previous week, so that from a daily average of 18.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it has risen to 16 , 7 per 100,000 inhabitants.

 

The 7-day AI in Gran Canaria and Tenerife is at low risk and in the rest of the islands at very low risk. While at 14 days the AI ​​in the entire Archipelago is at low risk.

 

Healthcare indicators

 

The favorable evolution of the transmission and care indicators is also maintained. All the islands are at low or very low risk in terms of bed occupancy, although the daily average of conventional beds occupied by COVID patients has increased by 38.4 percent compared to the previous week, with an average of 101 beds occupied. compared to 73 last week. Regarding the number of occupied ICU beds, the decline that began 8 weeks ago continues and consolidates, in which Gran Canaria and Tenerife remain at low risk and the others at very low risk.

 

The traceability of the cases remains at medium risk and the percentage of positive PDIA remains stable in all the islands and at very low risk.

 

The median age of all people hospitalized for COVID-19 in the last 14 days is 61.5 years, with an increase of 3.5 years compared to the previous evaluation.

 

Cumulative incidence in unvaccinated people

 

The cumulative incidence rate of COVID-19 cases in the last week is 4 times higher in the population that has not received any vaccine dose, compared to the rate in the population that has received the full regimen. While one hundred percent of the people admitted to the ICU, in the last two weeks, did not have a complete vaccination schedule.
