If you can wait until this Friday to put gas, do it because from that day on it will cost twenty cents less for each liter of fuel. This is due to the measures approved by the Council of Ministers, in the so-called Plan of Responses to the Economic Consequences of the War.
Specifically, the Plan, which will last until June 30, will have an impact of some 6,000 million in direct aid and tax reductions and another 10,000 million in ICO credits to cushion the impact of the crisis.
Among the measures, the Plan will include a 2% limitation on price increases in housing rental contracts, as well as a 15% increase in the amount of the Minimum Vital Income to reach more vulnerable families.
Regarding the energy part of the war response plan, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has announced that this week Spain and Portugal will present an “exceptional and temporary” measure to Brussels to set a reference price for gas , after achieving in the European Council on Friday an ‘Iberian exception’ that allows lowering electricity prices in both countries.
Sánchez stressed that this measure “does not mean subsidizing gas, does not break the incentives for renewables or electricity flows between countries” and will allow Spain and Portugal to “significantly lower electricity prices immediately” without “distorting” the Europe’s electricity market.
“I am convinced that the approval by the European Commission will take place in a very short period of time and the next day it will be approved in the Official State Gazette with immediate effects on citizens’ electricity bills” , has underlined.
