The Cabildo de Lanzarote highlights the consolidation of the good data regarding tourism on the Island, with occupancy levels that continued to be the highest in the Canary Islands during the month of July.
Specifically, the previous month more than 82% of the accommodations in Lanzarote were occupied by tourists, with an average rate of 114.9 euros per establishment, the highest figure in the Archipelago for the second consecutive month.
The president of the Cabildo and counselor of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that the good figures in relation to occupancy and profitability indicators demonstrate the positive trend of the tourism sector on the Island, “both from the economic point of view, as well as from the perspective of the change in model that we are looking for to also receive visitors with greater purchasing power and from new markets”.
The RevPAR hotel profitability indicator for July 2023, which is 94.3 euros, has increased by 5.8% compared to the same period in 2022. Likewise, the accumulated total income as of July 2023 represents 474.6 million euros, with a year-on-year variation of 22.8% compared to 2022.
Under the analysis of occupancy at the national level, only two municipal tourist destinations managed to exceed the 90% occupancy threshold during the course of last July: on the one hand, Palma de Mallorca, where a degree of occupancy was obtained 91.3% and, on the other, Teguise, whose tourist accommodation was 90.3% occupied.
Finally, according to the latest Promotur report regarding regular air capacity to the Canary Islands for the 2023/2024 winter season, Lanzarote has 1.7 million air seats, which represents 13% more capacity than in winter. of 2022.
