We are often asked what it involves working at the LBA, so we have done a day in the life of Silvia, the secretary, and Rita, the commercial.
08.00 As we both do a lot of work from home and have offices there we normally switch our computers on at this time to check in with each other and deal with any messages and update social media pages.
09.00 Meet at Trafico, in Arrecife. We would not normally do joint appointments but we had been asked by a member to translate and decided it would be a good opportunity to find out what exactly needs to be done, so we could report it to our members.
11.30 Leave Trafico, Silvia heads off to Arrecife to meet Danny, as they are both booked to take part in a radio programme with radio Cadena Ser.
Rita drives to Puerto del Carmen for a 12.00 appointment with the Lanzarote International Language School, who are interested in becoming members. They are pleased with the information she gives them and decide to become business members.
1.00 Silvia has a meeting in Tias with Nerea, Head of Tourism.
1.30 Rita arrives at the LBA office to have a meeting with Lynsey to discuss the next publication of the Lanzarote Explorer. Checks messages, and replies to any queries and telephone messages.
2.00 Silvia arrives at the LBA, deals with any messages and has a meeting with the accounts people.
3.15 Both leave the office and have time for a quick lunch/ coffee.
3.30 Silvia leaves to go to intercambio in Playa Honda, having to make a stop on route to deliver a translation.
3.45 Rita leaves to go to Costa Teguise to interview Paul Kelly for this month’s interview.
6.15 Onwards, we both arrive back to our respective homes and normally check for any urgent messages and update social media pages. Our normal working day can finish anywhere between 6.00 / 7.00 or later depending on what we are working on and we also host intercambio 3 afternoons each week.
