Kevin Roper and Silvia Garcia Hurtado attended the Amigos de Costa Teguise yesterday which was held in the Melia Salinas Hotel.

The Plan Estratégico Promocional Islas Canarias 2012-2016 was presented which is the result of 18 months work by a team led by the Directora de Turismo de Canarias, who have been studying the profile of visitors to the islands. They now have statistics to promote the islands with much more accuracy than before.

Turismo understand that the challenge is to keep the “faithful” tourists and increase these numbers. The result to which products should be enhanced was:

Nº 1: Families
Nº 2: Residential tourism
Nº 3: Seniors

So they are well aware that there is room for improvement to increase the number of tourists in these groups.
