For the first time in history, the theme of Arrecife Carnival will be chosen by popular poll. For nearly two weeks, you can choose between half a dozen options via online social networks. The result will be announced later this month.According to the concejal de Festejos, Victor Sanginés, the six themes provided opportunities related to past carnivals were studied which failed to thrive. Specifically, is the world of pirates, Africa, the rock & roll, the wild west, terror, and the life of the Vikings. One of these options will be the chosen at the end of October to be the theme for 2012.
The capital’s carnival will start on Friday, 2012 February 10th, in the evening, with an outdoor show category,
After the start on February 10th, the next day will have street activities, while Sunday will be the protagonists of Chinijo on the eve of the week dedicated to the street musicians. The festive gala will be held the weekend after.
The big parade is due on 20th February, in Arrecife, while the traditional Burial of the Sardine will be 22th, leaving from the Charco de San Ginés and conclusion on the Playa de El Reducto, which will host the traditional fireworks farewell parties.
