The capital achieves an 86% increase in the arrival of passengers on tourist cruises until September 

 

Cruise tourism is showing great strength in its recovery in Arrecife after the hard years of the pandemic. This Thursday, the Lanzarote Data Center released the official statistics for the year 2023, based on reports from the Port Authority of Las Palmas. The capital of Lanzarote has achieved, between the months of January and September of this 2023, a growth of 85.9% in the arrival of passengers on tourist cruises.

 

Arrecife received a total of 162,021 passengers in the same period last year, and during 2023 the number has risen to 287,995 people. According to the figures from the Data Center, during the twelve months of last 2022 the capital of Hutch received a total of 335,239 people and the forecasts for this next quarter indicate that these figures will be greatly exceeded, with the scale forecasts of the Port Authority of Las Palms.

 

The mayor of Arrecife, and member of the Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Yonathan de León, has highlighted that these statistics support the good tourist year, with cruise tourism, that the city is experiencing, contributing to employment and the economy. local. The first mayor has highlighted that the Arrecife City Council is promoting a series of plans to revitalize the open commercial area to support the small business and hospitality sector. And along with these plans, the City Council has several municipal works underway to transform the urban image of the city, with actions on its seafront – among them the El Reducto area – where the main urban beach of Arrecife is located, very frequented by tourists who stay in hotels in the area, and those who arrive to the island on ocean liners.

 

In the middle of the high season, the capital of Lanzarote will experience this weekend, the last of October, a unique image in its port area with the stopovers on Friday the 27th of the large cruise ships Norwegian Dawn, AidaPerla and the Mein Schiff 1, which will also spend the night that night to remain docked in Arrecife with German tourists until Saturday night.  

 

The city will vibrate this coming weekend with the usual image of these tourist boats at the Naos dock, and Los Mármoles, accompanied by the traffic and activity of passengers and crews through the areas of the Marina Lanzarote, Charco de San Ginés, and the open commercial area of ​​Arrecife on the outskirts of Calle Real.  

 

The sail-powered Sea Cloud will arrive on Sunday, en route from Agadir, and will remain docked until noon. She will set sail towards Gran Canaria, after 1:00 p.m. And on October 31, the Spirit of Discovery will arrive, recently built and sailing since 2020. It will arrive in Lanzarote after a three-day sailing journey, from the port of Barcelona. 

 

In parallel, the Department of Commerce and Tourism, under the direction of Councilor Eli Merino, is promoting dynamic proposals on Real Street and surrounding areas on weekends and days with cruise stopovers.
