It counted 900,000 more than in 2020, but 3.8 million less than in 2019

    César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport moved a total of 3,438,407 passengers in 2021 , 900,000 more than the previous year but 3.8 million fewer than it reached in 2019, the last year free of the pandemic. Specifically, this amount represents an increase of 35.5% compared to 2020 , which registered a movement of just over 2.5 million passengers.

     

    The Lanzarote aerodrome also registered an annual increase of 29% in the number of air operations in 2021, with a total of 38,740 aircraft taking off and landing on its runway compared to the 30,056 that did so in 2020. On the contrary, it suffered a decrease annual growth of 14.5% in terms of the movement of goods , accounting for 498 tons last year compared to the 583 that it moved in 2020.

     

    The highest record reached by the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport in terms of passenger movement was in 2017 with 7,389,025, a quantity very similar to that registered in the following two years -7,327,019 in 2018 and 7,292,720 in 2019- , to drop to 2,538,338 passengers in 2020, according to the Cabildo Data Center.

     

    In terms of air operations, it obtained its highest figure in 2018, the year in which 60,955 aircraft landed or took off from its runway, followed closely by 2019 (60,524) and 2017 (59,476). You have to go back much further in time to obtain its highest records in terms of merchandise movement: 7,996 tons in 2004 and 7,768 in 1994.
