Today, the first edition of the Vuelta a España has started in electric vehicle, organized by Endesa in collaboration with the Korean manufacturer KIA Motors, with the aim of bringing electric mobility to Spanish society.

The inauguration of the tour took place in an emblematic site for Endesa: the town of As Pontes, witness of one of the largest environmental restoration projects in our country: the reconversion of the former mine dump into one of the largest lakes European artificial

Ahead, another 10 stages, from October 18 to November 11, covering more than 1,000 kilometers of our country and passing through 16 Spanish provinces, both the peninsula and the islands. Specifically, if the Vuelta passed through Tenerife last year, this year it will arrive in Lanzarote on October 26th.

And with exceptional ambassadors: The prestigious professionals of the gastronomy, Pepe Rodríguez (@Pepe_elBohio) and Samantha Vallejo Nágera (@SamySpain), juries of the Masterchef contest, will travel through our country aboard the echo models of the Korean manufacturer, the KIA Soul (100% electric) and its new plug-in model from the Niro range, which will soon have its 100% electric version on the market.

Along with Pepe and Samantha, as drivers, several employees of Endesa assigned to the Electric Mobility Plan of the company, which this year is already in the fourth edition. More than 6% of Endesa’s workforce uses an electric car and the figure is expected to increase before the end of the year.

The Serie

Samantha Vallejo-Nágera is a lover of nature, very aware of the care of the environment. And a new challenge has been proposed: look for the best organic and sustainable products with which to cook. But since the geography is very wide, he has asked for help from his good friend Pepe Rodriguez, someone who also defends natural products … and who also has a privileged palate. And to convince him, he has promised that in each city there will be “a friend of his” waiting for him and will take him to spectacular places.

The cars that will be used for the route have cameras installed throughout the cabin, so after each stage, small videos will be available on the official website of the round, as a summary (www.vueltaenvehiculoelectrico.endesa.com). There, you can also find detailed information on each stage, interactive map with information on kilometers traveled, emissions saved, etc.

Once the tour is finished, a series will be broadcast that will be recorded during the whole round, and with which we will be able to know much more to all the protagonists. The series will have 9 chapters and we can enjoy it once the II Vuelta a España in Electric Vehicle finishes. In fact, the premiere of the first one will be broadcast at the closing event of the initiative, which will take place again in the central Paseo del Prado in Madrid, on Sunday, June 11.

More news: Find the car of the #eVuelta!

And as the ultimate goal of the tour is to disseminate the maximum electric mobility, this edition includes a game of citizen participation. During the days of the #eVuelta, and through @Endesa on Twitter and Endesa Spain on Facebook, we will launch different tracks to find the electric vehicle of the stage: being the first to find it has a prize!

It is only necessary to have an account on Twitter or Facebook. Through riddles, photos with some emblematic monument or some funny video, that person who wants it will have to find out where we have parked our electric car at the end of each stage.

The first one to find the car and publish a photo next to it on social networks with the hashtag #eVuelta will be the winner. The prize will consist of a high performance electric scooter to travel the streets.

Just follow @Endesa on Twitter and Endesa Spain on Facebook to have more information on the legal bases, know all the clues and participate in the challenge.

KIA also supports sustainability

Kia aims at an ambitious plan to reduce the consumption and emissions of its vehicles in the coming years.

The brand has long been committed to responsible systems with the environment being one of the few companies in the automotive market with 100% electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid options in its range.

Kia will not stop and the eco range will continue to grow in a few months with new vehicle launches such as the e-Niro, the electric version of the model and which has a range of up to 485 km.
