 Exhibitions

‘Without it ‘ is the new exhibition that arrives at the Sala El Qurófano de Arrecife, located in the Sociocultural Center of La Vega, next Friday, July 5. This is a sample made by two sisters who have been separated for a decade. One lives in Lanzarote, although she was born in Venezuela, and the other continues in her native country. Now they have managed to meet and launch an artistic project composed of audiovisual pieces, photography and plastic arts. In total, 40 works and three installations that transmit the different experiences that happened alone since the destination separated them, and the different experiences, both good and bad, that they could not share. That absence is now reflected in this sample that can be enjoyed until next July 19.

Luna Bengoechea. ‘Flavor’. The CIC El Almacén hosts this exhibition from July 19 to September 21, 2019. Recommended age: all audiences. Free entrance. Following the committed and coherent storyline of her professional career, the creator Luna Bengoechea proposes an artistic work focused on the need to articulate creation processes that, beyond surprising us by the beauty, neatness and formal innovation of her pieces , seeks to raise awareness, reflect and show the public a critical view of the many contradictions and socio-environmental imbalances associated with the fierce and disproportionate food production suffered by the Planet.

Daniel Jordan ‘Mumble the whole theater . ‘ The CIC El Almacén hosts this exhibition from July 19 to September 21, 2019. Recommended age: all audiences. Free entrance. Starting from a selection of the latest artistic works, Daniel Jordán proposes an innovative, groundbreaking and dystopian exhibition project in which he invites us to interact and dialogue with the public, through his paintings, sculptures, 3D animations, kinetic works , specific installations and interventions carried out in the room, with the playful and intelligent intention of ironing, parodying and reflecting on the very conception of the art world, understood as a great party in which to subvert and activate aspects of the metalanguage of the exhibitions .

Damián Rodríguez. ‘Sculpting David’. The CIC El Almacén welcomes this artistic proposal from July 19 to September 21, 2019. Recommended age: all audiences. Free entrance. Taking into account the different proposals and processes of plastic creation Damián Rodríguez ventures to make a suggestive artistic action in El Almacén focused on the sample of a careful selection of works, the result of research on different issues and fees related to the rules imposed on the representation of gender in the world of art and its borders, using different supports and artistic resources, as well as elements of the collective imagination about masculinity and femeneity to mold and interpret them, trying to escape this dichotomy.

‘Lanzarote, analogue of Mars’. César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport hosts this sample of photographs that can be visited in the Exhibition Hall of the Interinsular Terminal (T2) until July 17.

‘Santosha’. The San Antonio de Tías Hermitage Art Hall hosts from July 4 to 26 this exhibition by Evelin Toledano Aparicio.

‘The possibility of a museum’ . The MIAC hosts this exhibition that aims to build a renewed conception of the museum space through the work of Lanzarote artists Daniel Jordán, Francho, Iván Vilella, Moneiba Lemes & José Otero, Nicolás Laiz, the Parto Cerebral collective, “Pillimpo” and Yuri Fontes .

100 Years: Lanzarote and César. The Yellow House hosts until October this sample that includes the changes produced in Lanzarote in this last century, many of which had Manrique as catalyst and main protagonist. Through a series of thematic axes that operate as windows, the exhibition tries to show a broad and pertinent vision of the story of these one hundred years: on the road that goes from the wooden molineta to the wind farm, from the salt flats to the tourist, from the camel to the electric bicycle, from the fisherman from lowland to the surfer.

‘Warehouse 1974’ . The CIC El Almacén hosts this free admission exhibition. When in 1974 César Manrique, together with Pepe Dámaso, Luis Ibáñez and Gerardo Fontes, launched the “El Almacén Polidimensional Center” nobody could imagine that this unprecedented and innovative artistic initiative was going to mark the future of the cultural landscape of Lanzarote. This exhibition project addresses what meant that El Almacén became a catalyst and vertebrate center of the local artistic fabric. This project, framed in the programming of Manrique 100 activities, will be curated by Alejandro Krawietz, Mario Ferrer and Pepe Betancort.

Recorded online With the purpose of making visible the most significant artistic pieces of the funds of the MIAC collection that are in different cabildicias dependencies and cannot be contemplated by the citizenship regularly, the Culture Area has organized a new exhibition, curated by the historian of the Estefanía Camejo art, with a part of the production of the engravings made in the Line Workshop in Lanzarote. Engraving online groups pieces by Juan Muñoz, José Manuel Broto, Cristina Iglesias, Susana Solano, Pedro Cabrita Reis and Gonzalo González.
