Thanks to LANCELOT DIGITAL – Lanzarote expects to receive 32 cruises until August

Despite the fact that the islands’ tourism sector is only receiving disappointment from all sides, cruise tourism seems to be a window of hope. In fact, the Canary Islands expects to receive a total of 263 cruise ships in its ports until the month of August. This has been announced by the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the regional government, Yaiza Castilla, which is based on the forecasts of the port authorities.

Despite the fact that during the summer months the number of cruises in the Atlantic islands tends to drop due to the beginning of the high season in the Mediterranean, as detailed by Castilla, the visit of 151 cruises is expected in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. : 63 will arrive on the island of Tenerife; 39 to La Palma; 33 to La Gomera; and 12 to El Hierro. And, in addition, 112 will arrive in the province of Las Palmas: 32 will visit Lanzarote; 28 Fuerteventura; and 22 Gran Canaria.

In statements collected by Diario de Avisos, the counselor has clarified that “caution” must be maintained, since these figures may vary depending on the evolution of the pandemic, but that the islands are prepared with anticovid protocols “worthy of praise.”

Yaiza Castilla has insisted that in recent months the islands have been open to cruise activity, which shows the confidence of tourists in the destination. According to the minister’s data, the Canary Islands received a total of 55 ships between November and January, when it gave permission to shipping companies to operate with closed circuits throughout the archipelago.
