The Cabildo of Lanzarote is preparing to attend, along with a group of 30 businessmen from Lanzarote, the Forum Gastronomic Girona 2011, the gastronomic meeting, business promotion and a pioneer in Spain, sponsored by the best chefs and experts in the country.

For the first time, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through the ministries of Economy, Agriculture and Economic Development, encourages the presence of the island in one of the fairs specialized in delicacies that held in Spain.

In addition to promoting local products abroad, the entrepreneurs attending this meeting are also persuing establishing the possibility of a gastronomic tour for the next event in Lanzarote.

On this occasion, Lanzarote will be present at the Forum in Gerona with cheeses and wines from the island. In fact, cheese products were chosen that best matched with the five wines offered by the wineries participating in this initiative.

The wines are Bermejo, Stratvs, Rubicón, El Grifo y La Geria. The cheese makers participating in this initiative are Montaña Blanca, Rubicón,Montaña de Haría El Faro y Finca de Uga.

These pairings will be tasted in a wine and cheese tasting in Lanzarote, which will be held during the fair. Will be led by Enric Canú, director of Wine Selection in Catalonia, the veterinarian and a specialist cheese maker, Francisco Fabelo, and the renowned winemaker, Ignacio Valdera.

Girona Gastronomic Fair will be held from 20 to 23 February at the Palau de Girona and the Palau de la Fira, in Gerona. In total the fair will occupy an area of 12,000 square meters which will present over 300 exhibitors, becoming a one of the best business platforms where you can show the latest and most outstanding products.
