The occupancy of ICU beds for covid patients and the cumulative incidence, keys to maintaining the highest risk level
Although there was a slight hope that the good dynamics of Lanzarote with respect to the coronavirus would allow the descent of the island to Phase 3, finally, the Government of the Canary Islands has chosen to keep it at the highest risk level for one more week.
It is true that the fall in infections has been notable in recent days, as well as the reduction in hospital pressure. Without going any further, this Saturday 14 positives were recorded for 44 medical discharges , which means that in Lanzarote active cases have dropped to 345. With regard to patients admitted by Covid-19, the latest data provided by Health reports that 12 people are still in the ICU and 14 in the ward, a figure well below that of last week .
However, despite the good results, Lanzarote continues to present very high risk indicators . The Accumulated Incidence at 14 days is 269 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and there is 31% occupancy of ICU beds for covid patients.
With the maintenance of Phase 4 , what was expected by the island’s health authorities is fulfilled , who were betting on a red light for another week to consolidate the good data obtained so far.
These are the measures that must continue to be fulfilled in Lanzarote
Capacity between non-cohabitants in public and private spaces. At alert level 4, the permanence of people both in closed or outdoor spaces for public and private use is limited to the maximum number of people established, which is 2.

The restriction of entry and exit of people in Lanzarote is maintained, except for a justified cause that occurs for any of the reasons contemplated in article 6 of Royal Decree-Law 926/2020, of October 25. This measure could be complemented with limitations that may be established in territorial areas lower than the island depending on the epidemiological situation.
The limitation of the freedom of movement of people at night continues established as before, that is, between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. every day. These limitations do not affect the performance of the essential activities included in article 5 of Royal Decree-Law 926/2020, of October 25, such as the acquisition of medicines and health products in pharmacy offices; assistance to health centers, services and establishments; assistance to veterinary care centers for emergency reasons; fulfillment of labor, professional, business, institutional or legal obligations, and assistance and care of domestic animals or in cattle farms, among others.
General measures for the workplace . The provision of services will be carried out, preferably, telematically in those cases in which it is possible or by establishing shifts that limit contact between workers as much as possible. Only essential work meetings will be allowed, always guaranteeing the use of a mask, interpersonal distance and the capacity of 33%.
Specific measures for hotels, restaurants and terraces, bars and cafes . At alert level 4, it will not be possible to exceed 50% of the authorized capacity in outdoor terraces, being forbidden the service in indoor areas. The maximum occupancy per table will be four people and consumption at the bar is prohibited. The buffet or self-service service cannot be provided indoors. The complete closure of the establishments is established before 6:00 p.m. The pick-up service can be provided at the premises and home delivery until 10:00 p.m.
Sport practice. In the open air, only individual sports are allowed and those in which the interpersonal safety distance of 2 meters can be maintained permanently. Team sports or those practices and exercises in which that distance cannot be guaranteed may not be practiced. The practice of physical and sports activity in the interior areas of sports facilities and centers is prohibited. During the validity of alert level 4, any type of physical activity or non-professional sports practice in which the interpersonal distance of 2 meters cannot be maintained at all times, including team sports, is prohibited, although training and activity may be carried out physics in which that distance is guaranteed.
Sports events. Professional events may be held and, in the case of non-professionals, only those in which athletes or players can maintain a safety distance of two meters permanently. In no case is public attendance allowed, except in the case of accompanying minors.
Tour guide activity. These activities will be carried out in groups with a maximum of 4 people, without exceeding the total number of 12 people. In the case of outdoor activities in which interpersonal safety distance between the different groups can be permanently guaranteed, a maximum of 20 people is allowed.

Visits to museums, exhibition halls, monuments and other cultural facilities at alert level 4 will take place without exceeding 25% of the authorized capacity for all rooms and spaces, with a maximum number of 4 people in group activities.
Gaming and betting establishments and premises. At alert level 4, recreational gaming and betting venues will be closed.
Ceremonies and other religious or civil celebrations. You may not exceed 50% of the capacity outdoors, nor 25% of the authorized capacity in indoor areas, with a maximum of 10 people.
Beaches and natural pools. On the beaches the capacity will be 50% and in the natural pools it will be 33%. On the beaches, at this alert level, only individual sports are allowed, as long as the safety distance of 2 meters with other people can be guaranteed permanently.
Street markets. At alert level 4, 33% of the capacity established by each city council for outdoor markets and 25% for those held in closed spaces cannot be exceeded. Sporadic or extraordinary markets may not be held subject to authorization.
Hospital centers and health care centers. In hospital centers, external visits are suspended, except in the case of minors, pregnant women, accompanying terminal patients and those other clinical situations that are considered necessary at the discretion of the physician. Those patients who are confirmed cases with resolved infection will be exempt from this limitation. In the regular public urban and metropolitan land passenger transport, on islands at alert levels 4, their capacity is reduced to 50%. Surveillance of urban land transportation will be reinforced at peak times to avoid crowds. At peak times, avoid using public transport for non-essential or postponed trips. It is recommended to increase the frequency of public transport schedules, ensuring adequate ventilation and compliance with preventive measures, which includes not eating or drinking and using the mask correctly.
