The island aspires to be one of the first destinations in which all of its municipalities obtain DTI consideration
The Lanzarote Cabildo, through its Lanzarote Tourism Foreign Promotion Society, goes to Fitur to present its progress as an Intelligent Tourist Destination (DTI).
In this case, next Thursday, President Oswaldo Betancort, together with the CEO of Lanzarote Tourism, Héctor Fernández, will announce the tourism development and innovation strategies in this matter.
Oswaldo Betancort points out that “Lanzarote aspires to be one of the first destinations in which all of its municipalities obtain DTI consideration and to bet on tourism intelligence as the central axis of its destination improvement strategy.”
In a first phase, the Cabildo, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, has been working with the municipalities of Yaiza, Teguise and Tías in the DTI model promoted by the State Mercantile Society for the Management of Innovation and Tourism Technologies (Segittur ) and during this year it is planned to work with the four remaining municipalities.
The DTI model is a system of indicators based on five axes of action (governance, sustainability, innovation, technology and accessibility) through which situation diagnoses of tourist destinations are carried out and as a result of these action plans are generated for their conversion. to DTI destinations.
On the other hand, during the celebration of Fitur, the Cabildo, through the Lanzarote Film Commission, and with a view to promoting the audiovisual industry in Lanzarote, plans to sign an agreement with FesTVal, the first festival dedicated exclusively to television and radio. in all its formats and which has been held since 2009 in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Likewise, the tourist meeting will serve as a stage for the presentation of the Cicerone project, the first autonomous tourist office with GPT capable not only of creating a route and explaining the different points of interest of the island’s municipalities, the restaurants by type of food, museums and attractions, but you can also personalize your search for information.
Another of the planned actions focuses on the renewal of Lanzarote’s certification as a Biosphere Destination, after successfully completing the audit carried out by the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI). A seal that confirms that the destination’s commitment to the methodology based on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), certified for the first time in 2015, remains in force and improvements are being made in compliance with all the SDGs.
Taking advantage of the presence of the island in Fitur, the Cabildo, through SPEL- Turismo Lanzarote, will analyze the success story of Lanzarote as a green tourism brand through the study carried out by Mabrian Technologies. In this case, the analysis carried out on the revaluation of the tourist offer, the motivational and geographical diversification of tourists, in addition to influencing the profile of the most premium client, will be announced.
The agenda of events of the Cabildo of Lanzarote in Fitur also includes the signing of a collaboration agreement with the Portuguese municipality of Nazaré to promote these destinations as enclaves for surfing, as well as the presentation of the XXIV Dirt Rally Isla de Los Volcanes .
Likewise, the island representation of the island will hold various meetings with Turespaña and with different airlines and tour operators to advance the consolidation of said lines and the improvement and search for new connections.
