Corujo: ‘They will provide security, stability and protection to hundreds of families on the island and will help to dispel the uncertainty that one of the groups hardest hit by the crisis is going through’

The Plenary of the Cabildo de Lanzarote approved last Friday to release another 6 million euros of its remnants and thus double the amount of the item intended to mitigate the impact of COVID 19 on small and medium-sized companies and the self-employed in Lanzarote and La Graciosa . Thus, there will be 12 million euros that, “initially”, the First Institution will inject from its own funds into the economy of micro-SMEs and the self-employed on both islands.

Corujo thanked “the responsibility and coherence of those who with their vote have supported an initiative that will provide security, stability and protection to hundreds of families on the island and, at the same time, will contribute to dissipating the uncertainty that one of the most hit by the crisis. These 6 million euros more, ”he explains,“ will allow us to continue helping to re-float a strategic sector for the island’s economic fabric ”.

The president of the First Insular Institution has shown her confidence that the expansion of this line of aid “will give a new impetus to the recovery of the companies most affected by the health crisis and, therefore, to the reactivation of the labor market of the island. It is essential ”, he pointed out,“ that we face together the challenges that lie ahead of us ”.

In addition, he wanted to remember that he will continue working to inject new resources “that allow us to offer answers to the most affected groups and sectors in these extraordinary moments.”

For her part, the Minister of Finance, Rosa Callero, wanted to thank the “extraordinary” work carried out by the technical team of the area, “which has enabled us to free up these 6 million euros of the remainder to reach, thus, the largest possible number of applicants for help ”
