The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Friday that next week there will be an extraordinary Council of Ministers in which it will be decided that the mask due to the coronavirus pandemic will cease to be mandatory in outdoor spaces as of Saturday June 26th.

Sánchez has advanced this decision at the beginning of his speech at the closing of the XXXVI meeting of the Cercle de Economía held in Barcelona.

As announced, on Thursday 24 there will be an extraordinary Council of Ministers in which the elimination of the mandatory nature of the mask will be approved from two days later, on Saturday 26.

The chief executive has stressed that it is a very important announcement for all Spaniards that joins the good rate of vaccination.

“Our streets, our faces, will begin to regain their normal appearance in the coming days,” he added before underlining that “the joy of living of Spanish and Catalan society is the joy of living of their representatives in public institutions. starting with the Government “.

With this measure, he has indicated that he will once again enjoy a life on the street without a mask and has paid tribute to all Spaniards who have been disciplined and to the work of health professionals.

The elimination of the mandatory nature of the mask in outdoor spaces has explained that it is possible because all the objectives that had been set are being met “scrupulously”.

“This will be the last weekend with masks outdoors because next June 26 we will no longer wear them in free spaces,” he stressed.
