The Lanzarote Airport received 569,287 passengers in January, 1.9% more than in the same month of the previous year. In this way, it is located behind the airports of Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur in the Canary Islands and in the eighth position of the national network of Aena, according to Efe.

 

The eight Canarian airports received 3,752,854 passengers last January , which represents an increase of 1.6 percent compared to January 2018.

Of the total number of commercial passengers (3,726,618), 1,268,694 correspond to domestic traffic, which reflects an increase of 8.2%, and 2,457,924 international traffic, 0.7% less than in the same period of last year, according to the data of Airports and Air Navigation (Aena).

 

The airports of the archipelago with the highest passenger traffic were those of Gran Canaria, with 1,180,487, staying the same as in the same period last year, and Tenerife South, with 1,019,034 (+ 5.3%), followed by the Airport of Lanzarote with 569.287 (+1.9).

 

Fuerteventura followed with 442,911 (-6.9%); Tenerife North, with 400,382 (+ 6.6%); La Palma, with 117,624 (+ 3.2%); El Hierro, with 18,375 (+ 7.2%); and with the highest percentage increase La Gomera, with 47.5% more and 4,754 passengers.

 

Regarding the number of operations, the archipelago’s airports registered 36,018, 4.9% more.

 

Of the total, 16,207 were international (+ 2.7%) and 18,413 national (+ 6.2%). Merchandise traffic was more than 3,157 tons transported, 1.3% more than in January 20
