The Councilor for Tourism Promotion of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, has held a telematic meeting with the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Yaiza Castilla, as well as with his counterparts from the rest of the Canarian Councils with the aim of addressing and implement the necessary measures to face the 2020-2021 winter tourist season, which will be marked by the pandemic caused by # Covid19.

At the meeting, the counselor expressed his concern “about the current situation in the tourism sector, which is highly affected by the effects caused by the pandemic”, and insisted on “the need to generate confidence in our markets” for which he considers “essential to carry carry out PCR tests at airports as an additional security measure ”.

In this context of generating confidence, the Councilor for Tourism Promotion of the Cabildo de Lanzarote also stressed during the course of the meeting  “on the imperative need to reduce the rate of infections by Covid-19 that the island presents”,  for which he appealed  ” to the toughening of sanctions and, especially, raising awareness of the population, as we must be very aware that only by acting with great individual responsibility can we all succeed ”.

Also, the counselor once again put on the table the convenience of continuing to insist on establishing the opening of safe air corridors, as he has been proposing for five months, after this health crisis erupted.
