The Canary Islands government has announced the investment of a total amount of € 1.8 million in tourism promotion during the current year.
Support includes €400,000 to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, €300,000 for Lanzarote and
Fuerteventura, €150,000 for La Palma and €75,000 for La Gomera and El Hierro.
Before meeting with island leaders of this area and the directors of the Tourist Boards of all the islands the regional Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ricardo Fernandez, explained that the Canarian Government aims to collaborate in promoting tourism in the Canary Islands in the local events as well as in the ones to be developed abroad.
Mr Fernandez pointed out that 50 percent of the money can be allocated to promotional activities abroad, that is, those that target markets that are of interest for each island. In Lanzarote, this includes gastronomy (Saborea Lanzarote), sports tourism and the La Geria tourist plan.
The Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the island councils also analyzed the Canarian promotional strategy to be developed in the next edition of the International Tourism Fair in Belin in six weeks.
