Health has closed several beaches of Lanzarote due to the presence of algae that could be toxic to humans.

This Sunday, Cucharas beach in Costa Teguise has dawned with a massive presence of algae in a different color than usual. At first they took the step of waving the red flag in the bays and closed a portion of the beach, where there was a specific amount of algae but few hours later determined the total closure of two beaches and as hours passed has extended the ban to all Teguise. Likewise in the municipality of Tias have also been closed and some of the municipality of Haria and La Garita, Arrieta and Punta Mujeres. As from tomorrow this measure will also be taken in the municipality of Yaiza.

Apparently it is an algae that has already appeared a few weeks ago on several beaches of Gran Canaria forcing the closure of the same and can be toxic to people. Inspectores of Health have sampled in some of the beaches for analysis.
