Lanzarote prioritised “a balanced tourism model” in June
In June this year, Lanzarote recorded an increase of just 2.2% in international tourist arrivals, compared to June 2024.
According to data collected in a FRONTUR report, Lanzarote is placed behind the rest of the Canary Islands in terms of growth rate – the Canary Islands as a whole recorded a 5.3% in international arrivals during the same month, and the mainland recorded a 4.7% increase.
Speaking about the figures Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that “Lanzarote once again demonstrates that it prioritises a responsible and balanced tourism model: we grow, yes, but in a measured way. With an increase of 2.2%, we are the island with the most moderate growth in the Canary Islands in the month of June. This control responds to our strategy of sustainability and quality, which puts value before volume.”
The CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Hector Fernandez, added that “Indeed, this approach has also been evident in previous months, where Lanzarote has led the containment of growth, without ceasing to attract visitors, but simply managing the flow with prudence and long-term vision, both in the arrival of main and secondary tourists.”
