Thanks to  LANCELOT DIGITAL-  Lanzarote received less than 160,000 tourists in the first half of 2021

Lanzarote received 158,902 tourists in the first semester of 2021 as published by the Data Center of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, taking as a source the Canary Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) and Frontur Canarias. The severe restrictions imposed by the United Kingdom on its citizens during said period when traveling to the Canary Islands has caused the British market, historically the most important for the Island before the pandemic, was notoriously displaced in said period by the National tourism. Specifically, 60,686 of the tourists who visited Lanzarote between January and June 2021 came from Spanish territory, compared to 4,544 from the United Kingdom.

In this sense, the importance acquired by French tourism in the first semester of the year is striking, with 26,718 tourists becoming the third most important issuing market for the Island after the German , which reached 37,370 visitors adding -as in the rest of the the aforementioned markets – those considered excursionists (those who visit Lanzarote from another island in the Archipelago and do not spend the night) and the tourists themselves (those who spend at least one night on the island).

The fourth most important source market for Lanzarote in the first half of 2021 was the Italian with 7,114 visitors, followed by the British markets (4,544 tourists as already indicated), Belgian (3,325), Irish (2,877), Dutch (2,763) and that of the Nordic countries (2,440 ). Adding tourists from other countries, the total number of foreign visitors that Lanzarote had in the first half of the year amounted to 99,983 .

It should be noted that since the beginning of the pandemic, June has been the third month with the highest tourist influx on the Island with 52,728 visitors (only July and August of last year presented somewhat better figures). As it has been perceived on the island for a few weeks, it is expected that after the elimination of the obligation to pass quarantine on the return of vaccinated citizens of the United Kingdom, the numbers of tourist influx to Lanzarote will continue to improve.
