This weekend it’s Carnival in La Graciosa. A party which is expected to have at least 2,000 people, because there is no accommodation on the island for weeks.
The carnival will begin on Friday, at 18 hours, with a Parade announcer, which will feature performances by the batucada of La Graciosa, departing from the esplanade of the dock. At 19:30, there will be Gala Election of the Queen and Prince.
The party will continue on Saturday morning at the esplanade of the dock where, at 11am, there will be a children’s workshop. Then at 12.30 pm the masquerade ball will be held. In the afternoon, the parade will take the island, leaving at 18:00 from the esplanade of the dock. Later, at 19 pm, there will be performances by street musicians and batucadas on the island. Finally, at 22 hours, the ball award for best costume and adult costume.
On Sunday, the Carnival of the eighth island comes to an end. At 18 hours, there will be the burial of the sardine, departing from the esplanade of the dock. Then, a barbecue and dance at the Varadero.
“This carnival is becoming a classic one, with people who seek the tranquility of the island and the familiarity of the party fun for the whole weekend with the peculiarities and idiosyncrasies that you always have in La Graciosa” said Councillor for Culture of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancourt.
