The City of Tias has decided that its carnival in Puerto del Carmen in 2012 has the theme ‘The Wild West’ and is slowly closing all that that entails. The dates for the celebrations of the carnival will be on 23, 24, 25 and 26 next February and has already opened the time for the poster contest. The prize for the winner will be 300 euros and the reception of the work will be until Monday October 31 at the Municipal Office of Tourism of Puerto del Carmen, located on Avenida de las Playas s/n, 10am to 5pm.
Participants must be older than 16 years , will compete with an original work that has not been awarded any previous event or publicly exposed. Each work will be free style, vertical rectangular format will not exceed 68 cm x 48 cm not less than 49 cm x 34 cm. Shall contain the following inscription, in the following order: “Puerto del Carmen, Carnival 2012” 23, 24, 25 and February 26.
The jury’s decision will be made ??public before 3pm on Thursday, November 3rd and the works submitted for competition will be exhibited in the Hall of The Anchorage Civic Center of Puerto del Carmen.
Arrecife City Council had proposed several issues for next year’s carnival and they were voted by the citizens. One such topic was “The Wild West” , that following the decision of Tias for the Carnival of Puerto del Carmen could lose its strength.
The remaining issues are “Rock & Roll”, “Africa”, “Pirates”, “Terror” and “Vikings”, besides the aforementioned “Wild West”
