The ‘XI Lanzarote Wine Run & Traditional Cuisine Festival’ kicked off this Saturday in Uga (Yaiza) with the main objective, as indicated by its slogan, of contributing to ‘Save La Geria’. In fact, one more year, the event will allocate a percentage of the collection of the nearly 1,900 registrations registered in the ‘Lanzarote Wine Run’ this Sunday to the project of environmental recovery and farms of this protected area , which is responsible for materializing the NGO Adislan through its special Grevislan employment center, whose purpose is to promote the labor and social integration of people with disabilities.

 

As a prelude to the celebration of the so-called ‘Wine Race’, thousands of people have come during this first day to the fairgrounds of Uga to enjoy the rich and varied food and wine offer of the ‘Traditional Cooking Festival’ ‘, framed in the project’ Saborea Lanzarote ‘and that will reopen its doors at 11.00 am on Sunday.

 

The attendees were able to taste the delicious DO Lanzarote wines offered by the wineries Vega de Yuco, Reymar, Guiguan, La Geria, Malpaís de Máguez-La Grieta, Vulcano de Lanzarote, Los Bermejos, in the more than 30 stands that the event has. Rubicón, La Mareta, El Grifo and Organic Wines DO Lanzarote; as well as cheeses from the El Faro, Flor de Luz and Rubicón cheese factories, attached to the Association of Artisanal Cheese Shops of Lanzarote (AQUAL).

 

 

They have also enjoyed excellent gastronomic creations based on products from Lanzarote in the stands installed by Tapas Bar Galería, El Recoveco, Gambas de La Santa, Jimmys Bar, Cantina Teguise, Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, La Caleta Gastro Food , Malpeis Brewery, Flor de Latte Ice Cream Parlor, Los Aljibes Brewery, Los Aljibes Restaurant, Danielle Pizza al Taglio, Bartolo Batata, Snow Ice Lanzarote, Tiki Tapas Lounge, Lala Jams, Andy Brot, La Tiñosa Fish and NAO Beer.

‘Wine Run Kids’

 

The ‘XI Lanzarote Wine Run & Traditional Cuisine Festival’ also featured in its first day with the children’s race ‘Wine Run Kids’ as well as with the concert of ‘Boulevard’ and will continue to be developed this Sunday with the celebration of the three modalities in which divides the ‘Lanzarote Wine Run’. The 23-kilometer long race starts at 9.00 from Bodegas La Florida. The short and the walk, both of 12 kilometers, will depart from Montaña Colorada. The first will have staggered departures from 10.00 am while the walkers will depart at 10.30 am.

 

All participants must travel by their own means to the esplanade that is next to the Lucha Canaria de Uga terrain from where the buses will transfer them to their respective starting points, between 7.30 and 7.50 hours those of the long race, and between 7.30 and 8.30 hours those of the short and the walk.

 

As is customary, the winners of the long race will receive their body weight in liters of wine as prize. In addition, they will also receive from the sponsor company Bernardo’s Mermeladas the equivalent of their body weight in jams that they will donate later to the charity of their choice. The start of trophy delivery is scheduled for 12.30. The day will be enlivened by the concert that will offer ‘Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto’.
