During the month of April, unemployment has increased in Lanzarote by 99 people, compared to the month of March of this year, bringing the number of unemployed people to 7,824 on the island. At the municipal level, the only one in which this figure has not increased has been in San Bartolomé, where this figure decreased by 21 people. The municipality in which the number of unemployed has grown the most during the fourth month of 2024 is Arrecife, with 61 people. On the other side of the scale, where the number of unemployed has increased the least has been Teguise, Haría and Yaiza.

 

The situation is repeated at the regional level, since in the Canary Islands this number has also grown by 1.47%. That is, there are 2,424 more people without work in April in the Canary Islands, compared to the previous month. This is the only autonomous community in which this figure increased during the month of April, since, at the national level, the number of unemployed was reduced by 2.2% compared to the month of March.

 

For this reason, we have taken to the streets to find out which are the sectors in which the population considers there are the greatest number of jobs and if they have noticed the increase in unemployment.
