The Foreign Promotion Society of Lanzarote (SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote) participates this week in ‘World Routes’, the main international air connectivity fair that this year is held virtually through the routesonline platform and aims to attract the island to new companies that operate in markets with high purchasing power and that therefore provide quality tourism. This is the first time that the Insular Promotion Entity has independently attended this event on behalf of the destination that the pandemic caused by Covid-19 has prevented it from being held in Amsterdam, as planned.

In previous editions of this fair, which has had the participation of up to 13,000 professionals, SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote has been represented under the joint umbrella of Promotur-Turismo de Canarias.

Since yesterday, Monday, November 30, and until today, Wednesday, December 2, SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote technicians, led by the CEO, Héctor Fernández, have been holding a dozen virtual meetings with managers of the airlines TAP (Portugal), American Airlines (USA), Icelander (Iceland), Austrian Airlines (Austria), Finnair (Finland), Lufthansa (Germany), Air Transat (Canada) and Aer Lingus (Ireland). The meetings are exclusively technical in nature, taking place in 20-minute formats where detailed information is provided about the characteristics of the destination, fundamentally referring to the conditions of the airport infrastructures and facilities, in order to promote the expansion of the island’s air connectivity.

For his part, the Councilor for Tourism Promotion of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ángel Vázquez, points out that the participation of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote “in this important meeting forum of the most outstanding airlines in the world is mainly focused on attracting new companies that operate in markets with high purchasing power and therefore provide quality tourism “.
