The United Kingdom maintains, after two weeks, its warning to avoid travel to Spain, a situation that has led TUI UK & Ireland, the British division of the homonymous group, and Jet2 to delay, even more, the resumption of their holiday programs in the Balearic and Canary Islands.
Thus, TUI UK & Ireland announced in a statement that it will extend the cancellations of its trips to the two archipelagos until August 16. From the tourist group they hoped that the British executive would allow trips to the archipelagos before mainland Spain, however, now in both cases August 16 has been set as the date of reactivation of the trips.
In this regard, the division emphasized that customers with holidays to mainland Spain, with departure before September 1, can modify their trips for free or cancel them and request a full refund. Options that will also be available to customers with scheduled trips to the Balearic and Canary Islands until August 23.
TUI UK noted that customers who are currently on vacation can continue to enjoy the vacation as planned.
Jet2, which includes the tour operator and the airline Jet2holidays and Jet2.com, will also delay its vacations in the Balearic and Canary Islands until August 15, when previously it canceled them until August 9. The company indicated that it will directly contact customers affected by these cancellations, offering as an alternative a refund or a voucher for the value of the trip.
As for his trips to the Peninsula, he canceled his vacations in Almería and Murcia until October 31; it is unknown what it will do in the case of Alicante and Malaga.
It should be noted that competing destinations, such as Greece and Turkey, have been favored by the quarantine imposed by the United Kingdom on Spain, as demand has skyrocketed for these countries. As a consequence, TUI UK and Jet2 have launched additional seats for these destinations.
