The promotional website of Turismo Lanzarote registered in 2020 almost 500,000 more visits than the previous year

It reached more than 1,400,000 sessions compared to the 945,000 recorded in 2019

The promotional website of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society (SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote),  https://turismolanzarote.com/ , received a total of 1,418,672 visits last year, compared to 945,181 registered in 2019, which is which represents almost 500,000 more sessions and an increase of 50.1% over the previous year.

 

It should be noted that 30% of the visits in 2020 were made from the national territory; 23% came from the UK; 11% from France; 10.5% from Germany and 5% from Italy, among others.

 

The president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote,  Mª Dolores Corujo , points out that  “these figures reveal that, despite the situation caused by the pandemic, Lanzarote continues to generate a lot of interest and causes great attraction among our tourists, who are eager to come to the island and enjoy of our destination as soon as the situation improves for all countries and tourist flows and air connectivity are normalized ”. In this sense, the president recalls that  “it is absolutely essential to continue making a great effort to reduce infections on the island”  and appeals  “to everyone’s awareness and responsibility.” 

 

For his part, the island councilor for Tourism Promotion,  Ángel Vázquez , highlights  “the great work carried out by SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote through the reinforcement of the online strategy   the generation of optimal content and the permanent and continuous improvement of its digital platforms, which contributes to keep the island present in the memory of our tourists and to continue to see us as a unique and privileged destination ”.

 

Increase in social networks

In this sense, it is also worth highlighting the increase registered in 2020 in the number of followers in the different social networks that Turismo Lanzarote has. Compared to 2019, Facebook experienced an increase of 59,783 followers, while Instagram and Twitter accounted for 26,635 and 22,233 more respectively. Likewise, the page that the insular promotion entity has on Facebook under the name  Visit Lanzarote  also increased its number of followers by about 19,000.

 

Visits to the web

Regarding the visits to the Lanzarote Tourism website in 2020, it should be noted that 54.15% were made by men and 45.85% by women. 33.5% corresponded to people aged between 25 and 34 years; 27.5% between 18 and 24; 15.5% between 35 and 44; 12.5% ​​between 45 and 54, and both the age group between 55 and 64 years old and the users over 65 years old each represented 5.5% of the total visits made.  

 

The mobile phone, the most used support

In relation to the technological supports used by users to consult the Lanzarote Tourism website in 2020, 60.82% did so via mobile phone, 32.67% via computer and 6.5% used a tablet.
